This recipe was offered by a very special Indian friend from Pondicherry... This is how it goes.
Ingredients needed:
- Chicken
- Sour cream or Greek Yogurt
- Rice
- Gara Masala
- Turmeric
- Cumin
- Biryani Mix
- Chili powder
- Salt / Pepper
Marinate chicken with sour cream or yogurt and add 1tsp of salt, turmeric, cumin and GM. You can let it rest for an hour or overnight. I usually don’t - same result guaranteed.
In a pot:
- Add butter and oil
- Add 1 onion, 4 slices of garlic (minced) and 2 tomatoes
- Add 1tsp of all spices (fry spices with the rest of the ingredients)
- Add chicken and let it cook for 10-15 minutes. At this stage, you can add sour cream if it looks like it’s about to burn!
- Add rice (that you will cook beforehand)
- Marinate for 10 more minutes
